How do I stop my friend from getting meaningless tattoos?
I’m not against tattoos, but I told him to get something meaningful, not something stupid. He’s getting tats of an AK47, a magnum, a rose dripping blood, and the name of his high school “crew”. These are completely meaningless to him, he’s only getting it because he thinks its “cool”!!! He’s not even a “gangster” or a “thug” he’s a wannabe, he just wants the attention!

HA. Sounds like something my best friend is going through. Shes thinking about breaking up with him, and he’s getting a tattoo with their names on it.
tell him about ink poisoning and how he can dye from it
haha, next time you all get drunk. write something really stupid on his forehead with sharpie when hes passed out and make him think he got it done the night before
wow, he is going to look rediculous. I would print out all of the answers to this question. He might realize that everyone will be laughing at him.
You should talk to your friend and and tell them that if they get a tatoo that’s stupid and meaningless they’re going to be stuck with it forever.By the time they’re an old 80 year old they’re gong to feel stupid for getting something that dumb.
Why do you care? It’s his body. Would you want him telling you what to do with yours? Like maybe if he said “Hey, you need to be thinner, you’re too fat.” or how about “I don’t like your facial hair. Shave it off.” What would you think?
It’s not up to you to stop him. He can make his own decisions, no matter how “meaningless” or “stupid” you think it is.
Let him do what he wants, and in the future, if he does end up regretting it, you can say “I told you so” lol
not all tattoos have to have meaning behind them…but i still think it’s dumb to only get tattoos that have no meaning. i can sort of see the “crew” tattoo…but at the same time, it seems kinda dumb. i agree with the other person about the sharpie marker thing…hahaha. you should definitely try that.
Would you want anyone telling you what you can and can’t do with your body? Leave him alone. You can tell him that you don’t like it, but it’s his decision to make.
If your friend is already dead set on getting these things, theres’ probably little you can do to change his mind. I have a friend with the same issue…she has three stars, two skulls, and a heart tattooed on her, and none of them mean anything to her, they’re just things she picked off the wall and thought were “cute” to get. But it’s her body, and I can’t tell her what to do.
The only thing I can suggest if you’d still like to try, is to ask him what he’s going to think of these things later on in life, when his children/grandchildren ask him why he got something so ridiculous, and how he’s going to look dumb when he tells them “‘Cause it looked cool.” and holds no special meaning to him.
The thing I always say to people who ask me about getting one, is to take your time, research everything you can about it, look at a million pictures, think it through-because this is permanent and in the end you really feel like this really means something to you, and still want whatever it is, then go for it and get it.
hey for my 18th b-day i got a tattoo of gir from invader zim on the inside of my left bicep…. i love gir but its nothing meaningfull…. just got it cuz i could >.< and my sis was paying
