What is a good website to find pictures of tattoos?
Also I am planning to get on in January were on the body do tattoos hurt the least? I have high pain tolerance but my upper arms are pretty sensitive so I don’t think that would be a good place. Any ideas I thought maybe lower arm on the underside? thigh maybe? not sure any suggestions?
I am going to come up with my own tattoo I am just taking parts of different ones i find. Then going to have the artist draw it up for.me I appreciate all the useful information! Thanks

I second http://www.bmezine.com !! This site is basically a compilation of examples of all kinds of body mods as well as invaluable information about them. I go there to look at examples, get inspired, or to get reliable information.
Upper arms are one of the less painful areas. I’ve heard that, and experienced it. I have ink on my upper arm. It took 4 hours and I was fine the whole time. The only thing that bothered me was during the forth hour…the rubbing and cleaning and all got really annoying. Didn’t hurt (it was sore though), but it did get really annoying. Inner arms (entire arm) do hurt. The outside would hurt less. Again, from experience. Any area you get tattooed WILL hurt. For me, I would think the thigh was more sensitive then most areas of the body…the skin there just feels different. If you are worried about pain, get something on the outside areas of your arms. Other places will hurt more. When he was doing my upper arm ink i barely felt it, except when he got towards the inner areas. Again, all places will hurt. It’s worth the pain though.
The best bet is to choose a tattoo design, customize it, then explain to your artist what you want. Let him/her do their own thing. If they are a good tattoo shop, with experienced artists…it will come out the way you want it. Get something meaningful and something you will want to see years from now on your skin.
For my wrist tattoo i thought long and hard about it. i printed the picture out and put it on my computer monitor and looked at it for about 2 years. During that time I went and got another design (the upper arm ink). I wanted a dragon. I wanted something similar to someone I know. I gave my artist two pictures and told him to do what he thinks looks best. I gave him some musts. like color and size and little details that had tons of meaning. he ended up doing an amazing job. he liked the tattoo so much and so do i. i always tell people to let their artist draw up something for them. i am the only person who has this tattoo and it has so much meaning.
good luck. enjoy your ink
Google image search, or google tattoo gallerys. That was not hard realy was it!
I third bmezine.com…. AMAZING site. You could also try tattoojohnny.com and tattoofinder.com. You have to pay for the flash but you could always decide what you like and explain what you want to the artist and have them draw it up. If they say they can’t they aren’t artists and I wouldn’t go to them. Do not get it on the underside of your upper arm if your worried about the pain. The skin there is very sensitive. If you choice your thigh you’ll end up wanted to wear loser fitting pants as to not rub it more then necessary. Remember it will only hurt for a little while but you will have it the rest of your life. The pain is so worth a beautiful piece of art.
My local tattooist has a sign up saying along the lines of: “We don’t pick your tattoos for you. If you can’t make up your mind, you obviously don’t have any friends to show it to anyway.”
A little harsh, but I’d have to agree that a tattoo doesn’t have to be restricted to what is in an artist’s portfolio. After all, do you really want to wear someone else’s trademark under your skin?
You could google any number of sites for ideas, but at the end of the day a tattoos is a very personal thing. Sometimes it’s best to design your own or maybe tweak a picture you’ve seen that means something to you.
If you find an image that you like, maybe go in to see your tattooist with a few ideas in hand or on paper and ask for the best ways the design can be improved. If the tattooist is rude or unhelpful, walk out and find another one. Don’t compromise your dignity or your skin for some ink snob.
As for the pain factor, people tend to exaggerate here. I hate getting injections and immunizations, yet for some reason I found that getting my tattoos done was more annoying than painful, kind of like a scratch from a nail. Fleshier parts of the body, like the thigh or the arm, don’t hurt. Getting inked on bone, like the ribs, shoulder blade or the spine, does hurt, but it doesn’t hurt for long and only really lasts while they’re drawing on your skin. Just relax, chat with the artist and enjoy yourself.
