Being a Christian, is it a sin to have body piercings or tattoos? Stating in the Bible that defiling the body is a sin, is this considered that? Thanks guys.

Tattoos are not a sin. We are not under the law of Leviticus, and “the body is the temple” is not referring to avoiding tattoos. It is referring to avoiding idolatry and sexual sins
It is against God’s will. Our bodies belong to Him.
I think so yes -I got rid of most of my piercings but not much I can do about my tats!! God forgives
yes, because your body is your temple,in other words your body belongs to God
I am sure God has forgiven me for my tattoo. It is an old testament law. But our bodies are God’s temples and we should take care of them.
I think this is a matter of concience not law.
The reason the early Christians avoided such things is because they were popular Pagan practices and the Christians didn’t want to be like the Pagans.
Today, whether or not a tattoo or piercing defiled the body would depend on the person’s intent in getting it done and the type of artwork they chose.
For example covering the body with Satanic symbols or lewd images would not exactly be a good choice!
Technically, it is a sin.
Although, I don’t believe God throws anyone to hell for getting a piercing. I just believe God wants to take care of our bodies, because he loves us and wants what’s best for us.
Jesus has a tattoo, Revelation 19:16
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
in my personal opinion, for me it is.
it is written that God says to a prophet to make cuttings in the skin.
tatoos are cuttings with ink.
i have never seen a tatoo that is artisitic after it fades and complete body tatoos are horrible in my opinon no matter what they look like.
however God did command abraham to keep free slaves by peircing their earlobe to a tent poll. i think this is how ear peircings started. its just a theory though.
body peircings is vile to look at even if the soul inside the person is awesome. i dont like looking at goths either for the same reason.
but like i said after you get passed the shock of the site, people are pretty good if they choose to be.
i know some tatoos represent personal testimonies, and i wont be judgmental for people for doing it.
I dont like looking at naked men body tatoos either. so i wince at them just the same.
but it is written that if we destroy the temple God will destroy us. this applies to drugs and smoking and yes possibly tatooing and scarring and peircings. but this is a loose interpretation. God does say he will tatoo the name of god in our forehead and in our thighs depending the level of faithfulness.
So some tatoos are glorified indeed. but what happens in todays culture cannot be seen as anything near equal to what God will do. in my opinion
No, the only scripture that comes close to mentioning it refers to marking your body for the dead (i.e. as a form of worship of the dead).
On the other hand, you will find that believers will try various scriptures or reason to justify why it is wrong, even though the actual reasons for their objections are because of social norms.
Yes it is. God made us in his image. So any body markings, piercings and such are against God will. Since we are replicas of His body, we are in fact defiling God when we defile our body.
It is also written that Satan will do his best each second to steal your soul “back” into hell. He will MARK you as Satan’s way of making you defile God’s body.
Yes. Something about the body being a temple, I think it’s one of those crazy cult-like things Paul wrote.
Next question please.
