I would like to become a police officer once my kids are in school. But I’d also like to get some tattoos on my arms in a few weeks. What are the general ‘rules’ as far as this go? I know in the military, a tattoo can not cover up more than 25% of a visible surface. Is this the same guidelines that would be used if I want to be a police officer? Thanks.

I am planning on getting tattoos after i get out of the Marine Corps. However I want to get tattoos that will cover my entire upper torso from my waist to my neck but stop to where it cant be seen with a shirt on I will also stop at my wrist where it cant be seen if im wearing a long sleeve shirt. Would this be acceptable?

I really love tattoos, always have. I want a couple on my calf, one going from my ribs to my stomach and some on my shoulder or back. Possibly a forearm tattoo as well. I’d love to be a police officer but tattoos have always been my passion. Can anyone tell me (possibly a police officer or someone who knows one) what the policies on tattoos are in California?
